Technical Canlon | The State Council has just approved four new nuclear power projects! How to choose waterproof materials for nuclear power？

On July 31, Premier Li Qiang chaired an executive meeting of the State Council, which decided to approve four nuclear power projects, including the first phase of the Zhuanghe nuclear power project in Liaoning Province, which has attracted widespread attention from all sectors of society.

The new projects approved at the State Council executive meeting include the Zhejiang Jinqimen Nuclear Power Plant Phase II Project (Units 3 and 4), the Guangdong Taipingling Nuclear Power Plant Phase III Project (Units 5 and 6), the Liaoning Zhuanghe Nuclear Power Plant Phase I Project (Units 1 and 2), and the Shandong Laiyang Nuclear Power Plant Phase I Project (Units 1 and 2), totaling eight new units. According to estimates from relevant media, the total investment in the new projects will exceed 170 billion yuan.

In 2026, the project "Research and Industrialization of Nuclear Power Grade High-Reliability Self-Healing Special MBP Impermeable Composite Material" completed by Canlon and Southeast University won the second prize of Jiangsu Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award.

On January 16, the nuclear island of Unit 1 at the Jiangsu Xuwei Nuclear Power Plant in Lianyungang entered the main construction phase, marking the beginning of China's transformation of nuclear energy from primarily power generation to diversified supply. The project utilized multiple waterproofing materials from Canlon to construct a robust and reliable waterproofing system.
