Recently, the "Standardization Observation Meeting for Engineering Quality Improvement and 2026 Waterproofing and Anti-corrosion Technology Exchange Meeting," hosted by the China Construction Industry Association and organized by the Waterproofing Branch of the China Construction Industry Association, the Shandong Provincial Construction Industry Association, Shandong Jianzhu University, and other units, was held in Jinan, Shandong. At the meeting, the 2026 White Paper on "High-Quality Engineering Waterproofing Materials and Technologies" was released, and the Jinji Lake Tunnel main waterproofing project , in which Canlon participated, was honorably selected.
It is worth mentioning that the main waterproofing project of Jinji Lake Tunnel also won the Silver Award of the 2025 Jinyu Award.
The Jinji Lake Tunnel project is 6.04 kilometers long, with a main line of about 5.4 kilometers and a total investment of about 6.02 billion yuan. Canlon's MBP polymer self-adhesive membrane pre-applied waterproof membrane was selected to build the waterproof system for the tunnel through the lake . It is the first ultra-long open-cut tunnel in China that crosses a 5A-level lake scenic area .
Jinji Lake has an average depth of about 1.8 meters and has deep ditches running north-south, reaching a maximum depth of 5 meters. The lakebed has complex geology, and the areas on the east and west sides of the lake are both core business districts of Suzhou. It is comparable to "operating on the heart of Suzhou", which also poses a great challenge to the quality of the waterproofing project.
Canlon MBP self-adhesive waterproof membrane is laid loosely on the base layer. Under pressure, the cement slurry of the subsequently poured concrete interlocks with the membrane through creep. After the concrete cures, a continuous bond is formed between the membrane and the main structure, eliminating water seepage channels between the membrane and the main structure. Addressing the challenges of high water pressure at the lake bottom and the long exposure period during open-cut construction, Canlon improved the membrane's formula and process, enhancing the initial tack and peel strength of the self-adhesive. Silane-modified silica sand particles block and reflect ultraviolet rays, maintaining the initial tack of the membrane surface and its adhesion to the concrete. The tunnel structure's rigid self-waterproofing performance was simultaneously enhanced, and a six-layer waterproofing system was implemented at expansion joints.
As one of the most representative tunnel waterproofing projects completed by Canlon, the opening of Jinji Lake Tunnel will greatly alleviate and divert traffic flow on Modern Avenue, Jinji Lake Avenue and Dushu Lake Avenue. It is of great significance for improving the infrastructure construction of Suzhou's Jinji Lake Financial and Trade Zone and accelerating its integration with the secondary business center of the Yangtze River Delta.
