Project Overview
The Fengcheng Lidu project is located at No. 68 Fengxiang Avenue, Qingcheng District, Qingyuan City. Developed by Qingyuan Hengyuan Zhaoye Real Estate Development Co., Ltd., the project primarily consists of high-rise residential buildings, supplemented by apartments, villas, and commercial spaces. The surrounding area boasts abundant educational, medical, and commercial resources. The total land area is approximately 230,000 square meters, with a total construction area of approximately 700,000 square meters. The project's green roof drainage system utilizes the Canlon SDR siphon drainage collection system, with on-site construction handled by Canlon's Qingyuan partner, Guangdong Yuhao Housing Repair Co., Ltd.
Project Background
Traditional garage roof drainage systems have fatal flaws: geotextiles move around during backfilling, causing soil and gravel to enter and block the drainage layer. Traditional Lingnan-style drainage systems, such as gravel, pebbles, blind drains, and blind pipes, have complex structures, high structural loads, and many procedures. Such problems are common in green roof projects in major Chinese cities. The four major problems of waterproofing and leakage, poor drainage, inefficient water storage, and system damage have long plagued the industry's development.
Green roofs, as an important component of green building and sponge city infrastructure, possess both ecological regulation and space utilization value. However, underground spaces and rooftop greening in urban buildings face long-standing technical bottlenecks. Traditional blind drain drainage systems suffer from problems such as increased roof thickness and low drainage efficiency. Domestic large-span green roof drainage technologies face challenges such as difficulty in structural slope finding, easy leakage of lightweight slope layers, poor drainage, and plant root rot and death. These problems lead to rainwater retention, easily causing basement leakage and plant root rot. Furthermore, the traditional design of separating drainage boards from geotextiles often fails due to construction damage and blockage.
Detailed Solution
Facing the long-standing challenges in the industry, the Canlon R&D team, combining past practical experience with an open and innovative R&D approach, successfully developed the SDR siphon drainage system after numerous experiments and field tests. This system was recognized as a 2023 Jiangsu Province New Product and was rated as domestically leading. The core of the siphon drainage technology lies in utilizing siphon variable diameter pipes and a systematic design scheme to accelerate drainage, while also implementing reasonable drainage zoning based on project conditions to achieve organized drainage in different areas. The system has functions such as protection, drainage, and rainwater collection and utilization, forming a "breathing" drainage system. By optimizing the polymer raw material formula, the SDR system increases the compressive strength of the drainage board to over 45T/㎡ and the drainage channel strength to over 60T/㎡, reaching a maximum of 100T/㎡, significantly reducing the difficulty of soil covering construction management and improving project reliability.
After in-depth technical communication with the client, the Canlon’s technical team understood the client's main concerns and needs. They also conducted a site survey and reviewed relevant policy documents on sponge city construction in Qingyuan City (including the "Qingyuan City Sponge City Special Plan" and the "Qingyuan City Central Urban Area Sponge City Special Plan (Revised)"). Based on the site conditions, they optimized the detailed design of the project and adopted a combined internal and external drainage method to solve the problem of drainage difficulties on the roof of the project.
System Composition
The SDR siphon drainage collection system consists of multiple components that work together, each of which has been optimized and improved to address the shortcomings of traditional drainage systems.
The core components of the system include:
Polymer protective drainage composite drainage board: Made of 100% new materials, it achieves a strong composite with geotextile through hot melt self-adhesive. The peel strength between the drainage board and the geotextile is high, thus solving many problems of split drainage boards.
Polymer siphon drainage channel: Through the action of gaps, gravity, and air pressure, it quickly collects rainwater to the outlet, forming organized drainage in different areas. This product has obtained a national invention patent and adopts a unique mortise and tenon connection method, which can realize assembly and fool-proof construction.

Siphon drainage collection systems are important sponge city storage facilities. Canlon SDR siphon drainage collection systems can effectively improve the city's ability to cope with rainstorms and flooding, improve the living environment and enhance environmental comfort by realizing the natural purification, natural infiltration and natural accumulation of rainwater.
