MPUTM SF
Solvent-free Single Component Polyurethane Waterproofing Membrane
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
MPUTM SF is a a single component, solvent-free,self-leveling, liquid applied, coal tar free, moisture cured polyurethane waterproofing membrane.
CHARACTERISTICS / ADVANTAGES
▪ Very low VOC
▪ Low maintenance
▪ Seamless
▪ Easy to apply
▪ Applied by brush, roller, or airless spray
▪ Resistant to foot traffic
▪ Cold applied - requires no heat or flame
▪ Meets the requirements of GB/T19250
USES
•especially for places with high environmental protection requirements or poor ventilation.
•Under tiles in wet areas (bathrooms and kitchens), balconies, auxiliary rooms, etc., as long as quartz sand has been previously broadcast on its last layer.
• Flat roofs and balconies.
• Green roofs and flower beds.
• Under thermal insulation boards on flat roofs.
• Foundations.
▪ Non-exposed roof waterproof engineering.
When applied to exposed surfaces, the use of the protective coating MPUTM TOP is required.

APPLICATION INFORMATION
Reference Dosage | 1.3 kg/m2-1.5kg/m2 per millimeter. Coverage may vary depending upon the nature and texture of the substrate and thickness of the membrane. |
Waiting / Recoat Times | Application on Green Concrete Horizontal: 48 hours or walkable conditions Vertical: 24 hours after forms removed |
BASIS OF PRODUCT DATA
Results may differ based upon statistical variations depending upon mixing methods and equipment, temperature, application methods, test methods, actual site conditions and curing conditions.
LIMITATIONS
Higher temperatures and/or high humidity will accelerate the cure time. In cold weather conditions, use pail warmers or preconditioning to assist in work ability.
▪ Containers that have been opened must be used as soon as possible.
▪ Not recommended for light weight concrete, or asphalt surfaces.
▪ Do not apply to porous or damp surfaces where moisture vapor transmission will occur during application and cure. Exposure to direct sunlight can exacerbate vapor transmission during cure. Apply MPUTM SF in shaded areas and/or during falling temperatures or contact Canlon for use of suitable primer in this situation.
▪Do not mix MPUTM SF with water when using an airless sprayer.
▪ MPUTM SF must not be submerged or subject to ponding water.
▪ MPUTM SF must not be exposed to sunlight or UV radiation for more than 14 days.
▪ All surfaces where MPUTM SF is applied must be "sloped to drain" to prevent standing or ponding water.
• Do not apply to contaminated surfaces.
• Not to be used as an exposed or wearing surface.
• Use with adequate ventilation.
• Do not apply over a curing or forming oil compound.
ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH AND SAFETY
For further information and advice regarding transportation, handling, storage and disposal of chemical products, user should refer to the actual Safety Data Sheets containing physical, environmental, toxicological and other safety related data. User must read the current actual Safety Data Sheets before using any products.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION
Surfaces may be dry or damp, but must be sound and free of standing water, dust, laitance, grease, curing compounds, impregnations, waxes and any other contaminants. Scratch and remove sheen for metal surfaces before applying primer. Scratch marine grade and high density plywood with sandpaper before applying primer.
MIXING
Before application, MPUTM SF should be thoroughly mixed using a mechanical mixer and paddle at slow speed for 2 minutes minimum to ensure a homogeneous material. Take care not to allow entrapment of air into the material. Do not mix in an up and down motion.
APPLICATION
Priming: Some warranties and/or substrates may require the use of a primer.Substrates with moisture content > 4% should be primed with the special primer. Use the following primers accordingly: MPUTM402 for concrete.
Waterproofing:MPUTM SF may be applied with a brush, squeegee, trowel, airless sprayer or roller in two layers. The first layer is applied 2-3 hours after priming and while MPUTM402 is still tacky. The second layer should be applied crosswise after 8-24 hours, depending on the weather conditions. In case there are dense, multiple cracks all over the surface, it is strongly recommended to fully reinforce MPUTM SF membrane with some strips of polyester fleece (60 g/m2 ). These placed strips must overlap by 5-10 cm. In that case, 2-3 hours after priming, the first layer of MPUTM SF is applied covering the reinforcement, while still fresh, a strip of polyester fleece is embedded. The same application process is followed over the remaining surface. Two extra layers of MPUTM SF are applied over the entire surface. If waterproofing is done under the tiles, after the application of the final layer and while it is still fresh, quartz sand (Ø 0.3-0.8 mm) must be broadcast. The quartz sand must be completely dry.Apply up to 0.8mm horizontally per coat. Cured membrane must be intact after application to validate warranty.
Curing and Recoating: At 23 °C and 50 % relative humidity, allow each coat of MPUTM SF to cure 16–24 hours minimum. If more than 48 hours pass between coats the surface must be solvent wiped and primed with MPUTM402 Primer.
Membrane Protection: As soon as possible after completion of a successful water test, visual inspection and/or repairs, cover membrane with an approved drainage mat or protection board. MPUTM SF should not be exposed to sunlight or UV radiation for more than 14 days.
CLEANING OF TOOLS
Equipment should be immediately cleaned with an environmentally safe solvent, as permitted under local regulations.
