APP Modified Bitumen Waterproofing Membrane

CANSHIELDTM 150AL is a 1.5mm self-adhered, SBS-modified bitumen membrane for use in approved waterproofing assemblies. CANSHIELDTM 150AL is composed of a proprietary formulation of elastomeric styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) polymer modified bitumen blend. The topside is surfaced with an Al/PET composites film facer for exceptional tensile strength and surface smoothness. The underside is surfaced with a silicone release film that is removed during application.

DESCRIPTION

CANLON APP modified bitumen waterproofing membrane is made with high-quality asphalt modified by atactic polypropylene (APP) plasticizer, reinforced with high-tensile polyester mat (PY), and surfaced with PE film on both sides. It features outstanding heat resistance, UV resistance, dimensional stability and durability, specially designed for high-temperature and exposed roofing environments. The membrane forms a rigid yet tough waterproof layer with excellent aging resistance and long service life.

USES

Exposed and non-exposed roofs in hot climate areas. Industrial and civil building roof waterproofing. Basements, underground structures and civil engineering. Projects requiring high heat resistance and UV stability.

FEATURES

▪Stable at 110 without flowing, slipping or dripping.

▪ Ideal for long-term exposed use in strong sunlight.

▪ Polyester reinforcement ensures outstanding mechanical performance.

▪ Low shrinkage, no deformation after long-term use.

▪ Torch application forms reliable, watertight lap seams.

▪ Resists substrate cracking and deformation.

CERTIFICATES AND TEST REPORTS

▪ CE & REACH compliant

▪ GB/T 328 series test methods

▪ Tested by CNAS & ILAC_ accredited laboratories

▪ GB 18242-2008 APP Modified Bitumen Waterproofing Membranes

BASIS OF PRODUCT DATA

All technical data is obtained from standard laboratory tests under controlled conditions. Actual performance may vary due to construction method, temperature, humidity, substrate condition and operational level.

LOCAL RESTRICTIONS

This product complies with GB 18243-2008. For EU and international markets, it meets CE and REACH requirements. Please follow local building codes and regulations.

ECOLOGY, HEALTH AND SAFETY

During torch welding, ensure good ventilation toreduce asphalt fume inhalation. Wear heat-resistantgloves, safety goggles and fireproof protectiveclothing. Keep away from open flames duringstorage and transportation. Dispose of wasteaccording to local environmental regulations.

LEGAL NOTES

All information inthis data sheet is forprofessional reference only. CANLON assumes noliability for loss or damage caused by improperstorage, transportation, construction or misuse.Users must verify suitability for their specificproject.

INSTALLATION METHOD

Substrate Preparation

Clean the substrate thoroughly to remove dust, grease, laitance, sharp particles and loose materials.Repair cracks, holes and uneven areas to form a solidflat and dry base. Ensure the surface is free ofstanding water and contaminants to ensure stablewelding and bonding.

Primer Application

Apply a thin and uniform layer of specialbitumen primer if the substrate is porousordusty. Allow the primer to fully dry until non-tacky before membrane installation to improvebonding between the membrane and substrate.

Marking & Positioning

Mark laying lines according to the design layout toensure accurate positioning. Alignthe membraneproperlyto maintain consistent overlap width andavoid wrinkles or misalignment during torchwelding.

Torch Welding & Laying

Use a propane torch to evenly heatthe underside ofthe membrane and the substrate surface. Heat untilthe bitumen layer melts into a shiny black state, thenroll the membrane firmly into place. Move the torchsteadily and evenly to avoid overheating or burningthe membrane.

Lap Joint Welding

Reserve a lap width of 80 - 100 mm for alllongitudinal and transverse joints. Heat bothoverlapping surfaces evenly until the asphalt meltsfully, then press immediately with a steel roller toexpel air and form a permanent, watertight seam.Ensure full fusion without gaps or bubbles.

Detail Treatment

For internal/external corners, pipe penetrations, deformation joints and edge terminations, useadditional flashing strips and reinforce with extrawelding. Seal all critical points carefully to preventwater ingress and ensure system integrity.

Protection

After installation, protect the finished membranefrom sharp impact, heavy traffic, dragging andconstruction damage. Avoid drilling, cutting orpuncturing the membrane before subsequentconstruction to maintain long-term waterproofperformance.
