The National Building Standard Design Atlas 25J950, "Building Waterproofing," is an important guide for professionals in the building waterproofing industry. It provides detailed descriptions of waterproofing projects for metal roof panels and polymer membrane metal composite profiled sheet roofs, offering a unified and scientific technical reference for the Chinese building waterproofing industry.

In the compilation of this national standard atlas, Canlon not only contributed its waterproofing expertise as a participating unit, but the technical standards for its representative innovative product—the polymer membrane metal composite profiled sheet system—were also included in Chapter 10. Let's take a look at the relevant content—


Metal roof waterproofing project

First, in Chapter Six of the standard, the standard discusses waterproofing for metal roofing: based on the GB 55030-2022 specification, it provides common types of outer profiled metal sheets, applicable slopes, connection methods and various detailed structures, and focuses on clarifying three representative metal roofing waterproofing systems.


System 1: Profiled metal roofing panel + waterproof membrane system

The system uses 270° interlocking profiled aluminum alloy panels (such as aluminum-magnesium-manganese metal roofing systems) paired with synthetic polymer waterproof membranes (PVC, TPO, and EPDM membranes are optional). The waterproof underlayment is available in two types: breathable and heat-insulating. The relevant materials and construction must comply with the requirements of the current national standard "Technical Specification for Application of Profiled Metal Sheets in Engineering" GB 50896 and the industry standard "Technical Standard for Building Metal Enclosure Systems" JGJ/T 473.


System Two: Fully Welded Profiled Stainless Steel Roofing System

This system meets the requirements of Class I waterproofing and only requires the use of fully welded profiled stainless steel sheets with a nominal thickness greater than 0.5mm, and must comply with the requirements of the group standard "Technical Standard for Welded Stainless Steel Roofing Engineering" T/CECS 959-2021.


System 3: 360° laminated standing seam fully enclosed metal roofing system

This is a mature system imported from abroad and applied domestically, meeting the requirements for Level 1 waterproofing. Due to the current lack of relevant national or industry standards supporting this system, and at the strong request of relevant enterprises, this atlas refers to the national standard "General Specification for Waterproofing of Building and Municipal Engineering" GB 55030-2022 and the group standard "Technical Standard for Welded Stainless Steel Roofing Engineering" T/CECS 959-2021, providing relevant technical requirements and typical structural node diagrams; and explicitly states that only systems meeting the requirements of Section 6.8 of this chapter can be recognized as Level 1 waterproofing systems.

Roof waterproofing project

As a widely recognized new material and technology for roof waterproofing in recent years, the application technology of membrane metal composite profiled sheet roofing system has been systematically reviewed in Chapter 10 of the standard.


This chapter is compiled based on the national standard GB 55030-2022 and the group standard "Technical Specification for Application of Polymer Membrane Metal Composite Corrugated Sheets" T/CECS 1668-2024, combined with engineering practice experience. It provides selection tables for construction methods that meet different waterproofing protection levels, typical construction diagrams, and detailed drawings of waterproofing construction in typical parts, providing clear guidance for the design and construction of this type of new roof waterproofing project.

This national standard was jointly compiled by Canlon and China Academy of Building Research Co., Ltd. After in-depth investigation and research and careful summarization of practical experience, it systematically standardized key aspects such as material properties, system design, construction technology, and testing methods for polymer roll metal composite profiled sheets.


Canlon not only continuously innovates and develops polymer membrane metal composite profiled sheet products and engineering application technologies, aiming to fill the technological gap in the domestic application field of polymer membrane metal composite profiled sheets, but also assists the association and the drafting group experts in standardizing the application of polymer membrane metal composite profiled sheets in building roofing projects, providing a scientific basis for the design, construction and acceptance of polymer membrane metal composite profiled sheets in building roofing projects.
