Ethiopia is one of the node countries of China's "21st Century Maritime Silk Road", a bridge connecting Africa to the "Belt and Road", and the gateway to East Africa. Its capital, Addis Ababa, is the headquarters of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and the African Union, and is known as the "political capital of Africa."

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Egypt more than 50 years ago, the political mutual trust between the two countries has been continuously strengthened, and the cooperation in various fields such as economy, culture, education, and health care has been continuously deepened, with fruitful results. In order to assist Ethiopia in training senior civil servants and build a cradle for training senior government officials in Ethiopia and even the whole of Africa, China and Egypt decided to deepen cooperation in the field of human resources, and the Meles Leadership Academy project came into being.

The total construction area of the project is about 120,000 square meters, and it is constructed by Jiangsu Nantong Sanjian Group Co., Ltd. Jiangsu Canlon Building Materials Co., Ltd. provides waterproof materials and system solutions. Canlon's SBS elastomer modified asphalt waterproofing membrane, JS polymer cement waterproofing coating, cement-based penetrating crystalline waterproofing coating and other products are used. The project started in 2019, adhering to the modern design concept, pursuing excellent engineering, optimizing design and careful construction. The first phase of the project was completed and delivered with high quality in April 2021.

The successful delivery of the first phase of the Meles Leadership Academy in Ethiopia is one of the representative cases of Canlon's overseas market.
