On the afternoon of September 20, the "2024 Innovative Metal Roof Wind-Resistant Technology Seminar" hosted by the Hainan Green Building Society and organized by CANLON Holdings was held in Haikou.


The theme of this conference is "Building a solid future, improving the wind resistance of metal roofs". Experts and scholars from the construction field, scientific research institutes, enterprises and institutions from inside and outside the province were invited to exchange ideas and make suggestions. Li Zhongren, President of CANLON Co., Ltd., and Zheng Yanqun, Technical Manager, attended the seminar and shared the "CANLON experience" in the field of wind resistance technology.



Recently, due to the destructive power of the two super typhoons "Wilmason" and "Yagi", the wind resistance of roofs has become a hot topic and focus of the industry and even the whole society. Chen Yongfu, the former second-level inspector of the Hainan Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, attended the meeting and delivered a speech, pointing out that today's meeting is timely. He hopes that the meeting will form technical results through today's expert discussions and subsequent research, provide reference for the green building industry in the future, and achieve broader social benefits.



Wu Yunshan, vice president of Hainan Green Building Society, pointed out that Typhoon Yagi landed in Hainan, and many industrial and commercial metal structure roofs were severely damaged in this typhoon, causing huge economic losses. As an important part of modern buildings, metal roofs bear key stability responsibilities when facing challenges in natural disasters. How to improve the wind resistance and waterproofing capabilities of metal roofs under strong typhoons has become an important issue that needs to be solved. He also shared the practical experience of Hainan's building metal enclosure system industry in view of the three typhoons in Hainan in the past ten years.



Xin Zhiyong, vice president of the Enclosure System Branch of the China Steel Structure Association, gave a speech entitled "Wind Uplift Resistant Design and Structural Performance Test of Building Metal Enclosure Systems". He talked about the basic concepts, structural types, general components and performance requirements of building metal enclosure systems (metal roofing systems), analyzed cases of wind-induced disasters in building metal enclosure systems caused by strong winds in my country and surrounding areas in recent years, and put forward suggestions on the design, sustainability, standards and certification of metal roofs for wind resistance, and the introduction of commercial insurance mechanisms. In combination with the requirements of industry standards and specifications, he gave a general introduction and explanation of the structural performance test of the metal enclosure system.




Li Hai, deputy secretary-general of the Shenzhen Waterproof Industry Association, shared the keynote report "Comparative Analysis of Common Metal Roofs". Through comparative analysis of the wind uplift resistance, construction efficiency, waterproofing effect and weight of the newly built metal roof system, the existing building metal roof system and the composite sandwich roof panel system, he shared the cutting-edge wind-resistant technology of metal roofs and demonstrated the application scenarios, system structure and risks of each system.




Zheng Yanqun, technical manager of CANLON Co., Ltd., shared the keynote report "Key Points and Case Sharing of Metal Roof Construction in Strong Wind Areas" at the meeting. He analyzed the key construction points such as roof system structure, building materials, encryption area division, wind load calculation, and wind pressure determination. He shared the design concept, design key points, construction technical difficulties and highlights of the case, and put forward corresponding suggestions.



Li Zhongren, President of CANLON Holdings, presided over the interactive session at the meeting. Experts and representatives at the meeting discussed new technologies and methods around the wind-resistant design of metal roofs, wind-resistant standards of metal roofs, and innovative construction and installation technologies of metal roofs, and shared interactive Q&A sessions.


Currently, CANLON Advanced Technology Research Institute has established the only wind-resistant laboratory for domestic waterproof material manufacturers. It tests, verifies and improves the air tightness, water tightness and wind bearing capacity of roof systems. It can greatly improve the reliability of roof system design, withstand the highest level 17 typhoon, and successfully challenge multiple typhoon tests in many places.
